In our office, we perform complete initial periodontal therapy, which includes:
- complete examination of the patient,
- creating a treatment plan,
- cleaning tartar,
- sandblasting,
- curettage,
- application of antiseptics and local antibiotics in periodontal pockets that require more detailed treatment.
After the initial therapy, which lasts for 2 weeks, we evaluate the effectiveness of periodontitis treatment in order to have an insight into the further course of the disease, and to adapt the complete prosthetic repair to the progression of the disease.
Periodontitis is a disease caused by genetics, but driven by “stress” and neglecting the signs that our body sends us. Early detection prevents loose teeth, early tooth loss, inflammation and swelling, and the appearance of focus in the mouth.
Why is it important at least once a year to remove tartar and perform a professional teeth cleaning?
On all teeth, plaque accumulates in the area of the tooth neck – food residues infiltrated with bacteria that organize into solid accumulations and eventually tartar, thus causing inflammation of the surrounding tissue. If plaque and calculus are not professionally cleaned, an inflammatory condition occurs, which causes painful conditions and food accumulation. As a result, a periodontal pocket is formed and bone loss in that area around the tooth. All of this eventually results in loose teeth, bleeding gums and, in the worst case, tooth loss.
In order to prevent the occurrence of periodontal disease, gingivitis and other complications caused by bacterial accumulation, it is necessary to have the teeth professionally cleaned and periodontologically repaired at least once a year.
